Yahweh Judges All Flesh

The prophet Jeremiah delivered a stark warning from the Lord that resonates with Jude's message of coming judgment. We read in Jeremiah 25:30-31, "The Lord will roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he will roar mightily against his fold, and shout, like those who tread grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth. The clamor will reach to the ends of the earth, for the Lord has an indictment against the nations; he is entering into judgment with all flesh, and the wicked he will give to the sword, declares the Lord." This passage powerfully depicts God as a divine warrior and judge, whose voice alone is an instrument of justice. His roar signifies not only imminent wrath but also a sovereign pronouncement over all creation.
This prophetic imagery of God roaring from heaven and treading grapes for wine prefigures a common biblical motif of divine judgment. Just as grapes are crushed to produce wine, so too will the wicked be crushed under the weight of God's justice. Jeremiah's prophecy was initially directed at the nations surrounding Judah, predicting their eventual downfall after Babylon's rise.
