Work - Vocation and Image Bearing

Your work is never just a job. In the ancient world, kings placed their image - a statue - in a territory to represent their rule there. Genesis 1:26-27 uses that same picture: God makes humanity his image, installed to represent his authority and exercise dominion in the world he made. That calling doesn't stop at the ancient temple - it's the shape of your ordinary work today. Whatever you do, you do it as God's representative, not merely for a paycheck or a boss.
This matters because it turns ordinary work into something sacred. Colossians 3:23 doesn't teach the doctrine of the image of God directly - but it names exactly what that doctrine produces in daily life: work done "as for the Lord," because you already represent him wherever you stand.
