The Principalities, Powers, and Geopolitical Darkness

Demons are dangerous, but they are not the highest threat. Above them stand the principalities and powers — intelligent, strategic minds that command on a far greater scale. Different category. Different goals. Different reach.
At Babel, God divided humanity by language and allotted the nations “according to the number of the sons of God” (Deut 32:8). He assigned his supernatural children as rulers over the nations he had given up on. Over time these rulers became corrupt — enslaving their populations, turning human hearts to idolatry, ruling as gods (Ps 82). These are the “princes” of Daniel 10: the “prince of Persia” and the “prince of Greece” who opposed the angel sent to answer Daniel's prayer. These are Paul's “rulers, authorities, cosmic powers over this present darkness” (Eph 6:12). Their agenda is geopolitical dominion — not just harming individuals but controlling nations and civilisations.
The resurrection of Jesus was the decisive blow against them. “God raised him… and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion” (Eph 1:20–21). Their authority has been stripped. The gospel advance is the outworking of that victory, one nation at a time.
