Jesus Enjoyed Being Human — and Your Uniqueness Is the Point

Paul describes Jesus as one who "did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men" (Philippians 2:6-7). This wasn't Jesus becoming less divine - it was the Son choosing humility, entering fully into shared human experience. Hebrews 2:11 says he's "not ashamed to call them brothers" - a genuine, willing identification with humanity, not a costume he wore temporarily. His prayer in John 17:24 - that his followers would be with him and see his glory - reveals the relational aim behind that humility: Jesus didn't lower himself to stand apart from us, but to bring us with him.
This matters because Jesus's incarnation wasn't about proving how different he could be from you - it was about how completely he was willing to become like you.
