What Spiritual Warfare Actually Is

An enemy that operates as one coordinated force can only be overcome by a people who operate with the same unity. Each member has an indispensable role; no one wins this fight alone. Division is exactly what the enemy wants. Indeed, a fragmented church is the enemy's greatest weapon (BOK POST 7).
Paul describes spiritual warfare the same way. "We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness" (Eph 6:12). The principalities and powers are the corrupt sons of God from Babel (BOK POST 10) — the same rulers Daniel calls "princes" over the nations (Daniel 10), spiritual authorities who turned human hearts away from the living God. Their goal is world domination. Their tactic is spiritual captivity.
Nowhere in Ephesians 6 does Paul recommend shouting at demons, performing ritual confrontations, or rebuking spiritual forces. His list of weapons from the armor of God—truth, righteousness, the gospel, faith, salvation, the word of God, and prayer (Eph 6:14–18)—are not for defensive posture but for active engagement. As BOK teaches, 'Spiritual warfare is ordinary faithfulness under cosmic pressure' (BOK POST 11). The Great Commission IS the spiritual warfare (BOK POST 8). At its core, spiritual warfare has a single aim: freeing people held captive by supernatural darkness through the message of Jesus Christ — which means bringing every thought under Christ's authority (2 Cor 10:3-5). A unified church, each member performing their gifted role, taking the gospel to every corner of the earth (Matt 28:18–20) — that is the thing the principalities and powers cannot withstand.

pursue the unity Christ prayed for (BOK POST 7), and actively engage in the mission he has given you, knowing that your ordinary faithfulness is your greatest weapon against the powers of darkness.
