Three Supernatural Rebellions Behind the State of the World

Most Christians are taught about one rebellion — the fall in Eden (Gen 3). But Scripture records three cosmic insurrections by supernatural beings against God's purposes for humanity, and the world is the mess it is because of all three.
Rebellion 1 — Eden: A member of God's supernatural family deceived Eve and brought death into God's good world. The fall of Adam and Eve is the most widely known, but it was triggered by an already-fallen supernatural being.
Rebellion 2 — Genesis 6: A cadre of God's celestial sons crossed a boundary they were never meant to cross (Gen 6:1–4; 2 Pet 2:4; Jude 6), spawning the Nephilim giants. Their crime spread forbidden knowledge, bloodshed, idolatry, and corruption. When those giants died, their restless, bodiless spirits became what the New Testament identifies as demons — the "unclean spirits" Jesus cast out. This is why the OT forbids contact with the dead and the dark arts (Deut 18:9–14).
Rebellion 3 — Babel: God divided humanity by language and allotted the nations to the sons of God (Deut 32:8). Over time those supernatural rulers became corrupt, enslaving their populations and turning human hearts to idolatry (Ps 82). These are the principalities and powers of the New Testament — the "cosmic powers over this present darkness" (Eph 6:12) — who still seek geopolitical dominion. The cross of Jesus nullified their authority (Col 2:15; Eph 1:20–23).
