Most Christians have been taught to read the Bible like a manual — a set of doctrines and moral instructions to be memorised and applied. What they haven't been shown is that the Bible is a story, and that story is inescapably supernatural.
The Bible describes the real world as the site of an unseen conflict — sinister intelligences operating behind a thin veil, ordinary people caught in a war they didn't ask for. The principalities, powers, and cosmic forces of evil are not fiction.
Scripture teaches that there is a hostile unseen world operating in parallel to the visible one, and that ignorance of it doesn't make it go away. The gospel is not just a transaction that forgives sins. It is the decisive intervention of God into a war that has been running since before the world began.
