Two Powers - Heaven's Mystery

Daniel 7 pictures two enthroned figures sharing heaven's throne room: the Ancient of Days, and a second figure - "one like a son of man" - who comes before him and receives "dominion and glory and a kingdom" that will never end (Daniel 7:13-14). Second Temple Jewish thought took this seriously: a "second power in heaven," distinct from yet identified with God. Jesus applied this exact scene to himself before the high priest (Matthew 26:64) - claiming to be that enthroned Son of Man.
