Glory, Shekinah, Word

Ask how Jews talked about God before Jesus and you find several streams of language, all doing the same job.
The Memra - the Word, in the Aramaic Targums, acting wherever Yahweh acts visibly. The Kavod - the glory, the weight of presence that filled the tabernacle so thickly Moses could not enter. The Shekinah - the dwelling, the term for God settling among his people.
In the Targums these are co-identified. They are not three beings. They are three registers for one reality: the Yahweh who can be seen and located, as distinct from the God no one has seen.
Which is why Ezekiel is so careful in chapter one. He does not say he saw God. He describes a likeness with a human appearance, and then calls it the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD - four layers of distance, and still a figure on a throne.
