Turn From Your Idols

God answers the elders, but not with the word they came for. Repent and turn away from your idols, and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
The force of it is in where they are standing. They are already in exile - the judgment has already happened - and they still have not let go. If that does not change, the sources put God's answer bluntly: you are not going to return to the land, you are going to die here.
This is covenant lawsuit language. The call is to repent of syncretism or face the certain judgment of the covenant Lord.
