Today is held by your Father

This passage is nearly always read on its own, as a talk about anxiety. Look at the first three words of verse 25: "Because of this." It is a conclusion drawn from what came immediately before - and what came before is money. You cannot serve God and wealth.
The scholars who translate this section keep them together under one heading: wealth and worry. They are the same problem from two directions. Both are attempts to secure tomorrow by yourself. Which is why the answer Jesus gives is not stop feeling worried, but seek first the kingdom - a different thing to be secured by, not a better attitude about the same one.
