Speak Whether They Listen

Whether they hear or refuse to hear, they will know that a prophet has been among them.
Success is defined by the sending, not the response. That is unusual, and it is the litmus test for what a prophet actually is.
There is another oddity in the call. In other commissioning scenes God promises his presence. Ezekiel is promised briers and thorns and scorpions - though many scholars read that as a protective hedge rather than a threat.
