Sin Becomes Daily Life

Ezekiel is told to eat his bread with quaking and drink his water with trembling - to shake while he does it, as though in a panic.
It is a preview. This is how people will eat in Jerusalem under siege, on rations already cut to exile proportions.
And the reason given is not military but moral: the land will be stripped of all it contains, because of the violence of all who dwell in it.
