Resurrection Body - Embodied Hope

Paul describes the resurrection body in stark contrast to what's buried: "sown perishable... raised imperishable... sown in weakness... raised in power... sown a natural body... raised a spiritual body" (1 Corinthians 15:42-44). "Spiritual body" doesn't mean non-physical - Jesus's own resurrection body could be touched and ate fish, yet was no longer subject to death or decay. This bodily hope isn't isolated from the rest of creation either: the body is raised, and the creation itself is renewed alongside it. The Christian hope has never been an escape from the physical world into a disembodied heaven - it's the physical world, and our bodies within it, made new.
This matters because your body isn't a temporary shell to be discarded - it's what God intends to resurrect and transform, right along with everything else he made.
