Rebellion's Proud Heart

Your heart was proud because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendour. I cast you to the ground.
The word translated ground is erets, which is also one of the Hebrew words for the underworld. Heiser marks it deliberately in his own rendering. The fall is not a demotion; it is a descent.
The verse sits inside the cherub sequence - the guardian cherub, the stones of fire - which Heiser reads as divine council imagery rather than decoration. He also states the majority view fairly: most scholars read the passage as comparing the king of Tyre's pride to Adam's.
