Pride Precedes Destruction

The great cedar of Ezekiel 31 towers over every tree, its top among the clouds - and it is handed over to a mighty one of the nations, and goes down to Sheol.
Heiser reads the tree as a divine rebel in the heavenly council, not as Adam. He calls readings that identify this tree with Adam exegetically incoherent. And the detail that supports him is the mourning: the other trees of Eden grieving its fall represent fellow divine council members.
Which places this chapter alongside Ezekiel 28, Isaiah 14 and Genesis 3 - pride as the precipitating sin, catastrophic downfall, Sheol as the destination.
