Pride Precedes a Fall

Because your heart is proud, and you have said, I am a god, I sit in the seat of the gods - yet you are but a man, and no god.
Two things need saying together here, because they are both true.
First, this is an oracle and a lament against a human prince of Tyre. Everybody agrees on that. It is addressed to a real ruler of a real city.
Second, Heiser argues the prince is being compared to a divine rebel, reading the passage alongside Isaiah 14. He follows the Masoretic Text rather than the Septuagint in getting there - and he states plainly that this puts him in the minority among scholars.
