Porneuo: Sexual or Spiritual Unfaithfulness

The verb Jude uses is ekporneusasai, built on porneuo. In Scripture that word group runs on two tracks at once - literal sexual immorality, and the prophets' standard image for covenant unfaithfulness. Israel "plays the harlot" after other gods.
Jude does not make you choose. That is the point. The people he is warning about have transferred their loyalty, and it is showing up in their bodies. The Watchers did the same. So did Sodom. In each case the disloyalty and the act are not two separate charges; one is how the other surfaces.

Where loyalty goes, the body follows. Jude treats that as one charge, not two.
