OT in NT 5: Daniel's Son of Man

The title "Son of Man" is fundamentally a throne-room designation, signifying supreme authority and kingship. This means that when the Bible refers to the "Son of Man," it is speaking of one who holds a position of ultimate power and dominion, rather than merely representing humble humanity.
This understanding is rooted in the vision of Daniel 7:13-14, where "With the clouds of heaven there came one like a son of man... and to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom." This ancient prophecy depicts a human-like figure receiving a universal and everlasting kingdom. Jesus directly applies this powerful imagery to himself, as seen in Matthew 26:64 and Mark 14:62, stating, "you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven." Later, in Revelation 1:13-18, the resurrected Jesus is presented "one like a son of man," possessing eternal life and "the keys of Death and Hades," thus fulfilling Daniel's vision of a universally reigning figure.
Therefore, when you encounter the "Son of Man" in scripture, it is not a title of humility or weakness. Instead, it is language saturated with kingdom, clouds, divine throne, and supreme authority. This title identifies Jesus as the divinely appointed ruler who now sits at the right hand of God, wielding all power and dominion, inspiring your worship and confidence in his reigning sovereignty over all things.
