No threat outranks the King

Rule, authority, power, dominion. Those four words are not a flourish. Paul uses the same vocabulary in Ephesians 6:12 for what believers actually wrestle against - the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places.
So Ephesians 1 is not a general statement that God is great. It is a ranking. When God raised Jesus he seated him far above that specific list, and above every name that is named - not only now, but in the age still coming. Heiser reads that last phrase as the already and the not yet held together: the verdict is in, the appeal window is closed, the sentence is still being carried out.
