No Borrowed Loyalty

Even if Noah, Daniel and Job were in the land, God says, they would deliver only their own lives by their righteousness.
The point is that righteousness is not transferable. God is not going to overlook your position for the sake of somebody else's relationship with him.
There is a genuine puzzle in the middle of the verse. The name spelled here has four consonants, not the five used in the book of Daniel, and many scholars take it as Danel of the Ugaritic Tale of Aqhat rather than the prophet. Heiser lays that case out - and then pushes back on it, because the Ugaritic Danel was a pagan, which sits awkwardly in a list of loyal worshippers of Yahweh.
