Ezekiel 37:5 declares, “Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.” This powerful declaration is not a promise of individual bodily resurrection in the afterlife, but rather a vivid metaphor for the restoration of the nation of Israel. The dry bones symbolize the desperate, lifeless state of the exiled Israelites, who felt utterly cut off from their God and their homeland. The Lord's promise to put breath into them signifies His intention to revive their national identity, restore their hope, and bring them back to life as a unified people. It is a message of national renewal and divine intervention in their corporate destiny.
