Men of Sodom's Demand

Everything turns on who was inside Lot's house. Genesis has already told you: they are angels. The men of Sodom did not know that, but the narrator does, and so does Jude.
That is the detail that makes this episode do what Jude needs it to do. The men of the city were demanding beings of a categorically different nature from themselves. The flesh they were reaching for was other in kind, not merely other in person. Heiser's reading of Jude 7 depends entirely on this: it is the human analogue to what the Watchers did, and the mirror only works because the visitors were not men.

The narrator tells you what the mob could not see. Jude is writing for readers who had already been told.
