Jesus' Siblings Before Pentecost

The early church found unity and purpose even before the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, as we read in Acts 1:14: "All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers." This verse gives us a snapshot of the Jerusalem believers gathered in one place. "One accord" speaks to their shared heart and singular focus. Their devotion to prayer was a corporate act of worship and anticipation, demonstrating a deep reliance on God during a pivotal time. It prepared their hearts for the astonishing events shortly to come.
