Idolatry - False Gods and False Images

Psalm 115 mocks idols with blunt, physical detail: "they have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see... they have hands, but do not feel; feet, but do not walk" (Psalm 115:5-7). The point isn't subtle - these objects are lifeless, powerless, unable to do anything for the people who worship them. The psalm's closing warning is the real teaching: "those who make them become like them" (v. 8). Worship shapes the worshiper. What you give ultimate attention to is what you become like.
This matters because idolatry was never really about statues - it's about what you're becoming by what you worship.
