Grace gives today a vocation

Everyone memorises verses 8 and 9 - by grace you have been saved through faith, not a result of works. Heiser's point is that almost nobody carries on to verse 10, which is where Paul says what the grace was for.
We are his workmanship, created for good works that God prepared beforehand. Not works that earn anything. "Works are a byproduct of salvation." The order matters and it never reverses: grace first, then a job. Which means the day in front of you is not a gap between being saved and going to be with him. It is the assignment.
