God’s Name Is Not a Prop

Zedekiah swore a treaty with Nebuchadnezzar and broke it. God calls that treaty mine.
Surely it is my oath that he despised, and my covenant that he broke. The agreement was with a pagan king - but it had been sworn in Yahweh's name, which made breaking it an offence against God himself.
The chapter is built as a covenant lawsuit, and the verdict on the king is not subtle. Zedekiah is a fool, trying to dodge what is coming.
