God Is Not Unjust

The way of the Lord is not just. That is the complaint, quoted back at the people who made it.
The sources handle it by questioning the assumption underneath. We instinctively think individual retribution is the fairer arrangement - but as Kaminsky argues in the material Heiser works through, that theology of retribution does not accord with our common human experience either. Scholars have even used the bias to date biblical texts, treating individual language as later and therefore more advanced.
And the counter-example is Genesis 18, where Abraham bargains for Sodom. That is corporate thinking, and it is arguing for mercy.
