God as Trinity: The Thing Scripture Actually Presents

This is the last piece of the series, and it is the hardest. It is also, honestly, the one that is almost incomprehensible - so let us be clear about what we are doing before we start.
One of the great mysteries of God's nature is that Scripture presents three distinct persons as God. There is the Father. There is the Son. There is the Holy Spirit. And at the same time Scripture maintains God's unity - it insists that God is one.
Both of those are in the text. Neither one is negotiable. The difficulty is not that Scripture is vague; it is that Scripture says two things that are hard to hold together.
So theologians coined vocabulary to express God's three-in-oneness - words like trinity, trinitarianism, triune, Godhead. It is worth knowing that these are not biblical terms. You will not find the word trinity in Scripture. They are words invented to help us express a teaching we do see there.
That distinction matters. The doctrine is not imported. The vocabulary is.
