The Attributes of God: Justice

God is not only holy and righteous. He is also just.
Justice, or justness, is that God directs his relationships with his creatures in accordance with what is right - and that he exposes, opposes and judges what is wrong. Notice all three verbs. Justice does not only pass sentence at the end. It brings things into the light first.
The relationship between these three attributes is worth holding onto. Holiness and righteousness are more often understood as internal to God, describing what he is. Justice is the outworking of that holy and righteous nature - what those things look like when they act.
This is also why judgement is not God losing his temper. Because God is righteous, it is necessary that he treat people according to what they deserve. Sin does not deserve reward; it is wrong, and it deserves punishment. Judgement is his character being consistent, not his patience running out.
