The Attributes of God: Personhood

We are moving from the attributes God does not share with us to the ones he does. He has certain attributes that he shares, in lesser form, with his creatures - and personhood is the first.
Personhood refers to God's ability and willingness to interact with his creation, and particularly with people, whom he made as his image. We are personal beings, and that part of us comes directly from what God is and from what he willed when he made us.
Here is the weight of it. God is a transcendent person - there is still nothing and no one like him. On one level nobody could truly relate to him at all. But he condescends to have relationships with us, and he is both willing and able to do so. He made us like himself precisely so that relationship was on the table.
It is worth noticing that not everything in creation has this. Personhood is not a given. It was a decision.
