The Attributes of God: Immanence

Immanence is the word for God's nearness. More precisely, it carries the idea that God is ever-present and active within his creation and within human history.
Read the Bible looking for this and you find it everywhere, usually as an assumption rather than an argument. Scripture simply presumes God is present and at work in all creation and in every human circumstance. There is never a time when God is absent. He is always there.
Jeremiah puts it as a challenge from God himself: am I a God near at hand and not a God far away? Can anyone hide in secret places where I cannot see? The expected answer is obvious, and it is meant to be uncomfortable as well as comforting.
That double edge is the point. The same nearness that means you are never alone also means there is nowhere to take your life where he is not already present.
