The Attributes of God: Immortality

These two attributes sit close together, and it is worth seeing what each one adds.
Eternality is the statement that God has no beginning and no ending. Immortality goes a step further and speaks about his deathlessness. He cannot die. His existence cannot be terminated. There is no process, no power and no event that could bring God to an end.
Scripture uses this language of God plainly and often. He is the one who alone has immortality. The heavens will wear out like a garment and be changed - but he is the same, and his years have no end.
Notice the contrast being drawn there. Everything else, even the sky, is the sort of thing that wears out and gets replaced. God is not in that category. He is not merely long-lasting. He is undying.
