The Attributes of God: Incomprehensibility

Incomprehensibility means God cannot be measured, assessed, or completely understood in his nature and his ways.
Be careful with what that does not mean. It does not mean there is some unknown, hidden God lurking behind the God that Scripture describes - as if the real one were still out of reach and everything revealed were only a mask. What we are told is true. It is simply never the whole.
Isaiah puts the distance in physical terms: as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are God's ways higher than our ways, and his thoughts than our thoughts. That is not a small gap to be closed with more study. It is a difference of kind.
This is why humility and confidence belong together here. You can genuinely know God, because he has genuinely made himself known. You will not finish the job. Both of those are good news - a God you could exhaust would be a God roughly your own size.
