The Name Yahweh: The Third Person of I AM

Hebrew builds person into the verb itself. First person is "I." Second person is "you." Third person is everybody else - "he."
The way you express the third person is to stick a Y on the front as a prefix. Take the "to be" verb and do exactly that, and you are holding the four consonants of the divine name.
So the relationship is simple. God says of himself Ehyeh - I am. Israel says of him YHWH - he is. It is one verb, one meaning, two speakers. The name Israel carries is the name God gave, turned around to be spoken by someone other than God.
This is also why the name is not a magic word or a secret. It is the most ordinary grammar in the language, doing the least ordinary job in Scripture.
