The Attributes Are Denied to Others

It would be one thing for the Bible to call Yahweh sovereign and leave it there. It does more than that, and the difference is worth naming.
The attributes assigned to Yahweh "not only are never used of other Elohim. In many passages they are denied to other Elohim."
That is a deliberate move. Yahweh is Creator, lone sovereign, omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent - and no other elohim is ever described that way anywhere. When the question is raised directly, the answer is a denial: is there a God besides me? There is no Rock; I know not any.
So the existence of other elohim was never a threat to the claim. Scripture concedes the category and closes the comparison in the same breath.
