Given Over To Judgment

Ezekiel 20 presents a stark truth about divine judgment: God declared that He "gave them statutes that were not good and rules by which they could not have life." For us today, this serves as a powerful and urgent reminder. While we may not be tempted by literal child sacrifice, the principle remains: when we persistently choose our own ways over God’s revealed truth, we risk being given over to the destructive consequences of our choices. It calls us to sober reflection on our own lives and priorities. Are we wholeheartedly pursuing God's good and life-giving statutes, or are we flirting with "statutes that are not good," the enticing but ultimately ruinous ways of the world? This passage ultimately points us to the profound grace available in Christ, who offers us true life and freedom from sin's power, allowing us to walk in God's good ways and avoid such a dire judgment.
