Even your sighs are not alone

This verse is usually quoted on its own, which hides what Paul is doing. Read from verse 22 and you find three groans in a row. Creation groans. We groan, waiting for adoption and the redemption of our bodies. And then the Spirit groans with us.
That is the shape of the passage. Your wordlessness is not a gap in the system. Paul places it in the middle of a creation that is also straining, and he says the Spirit is doing the praying you cannot manage. The word he uses for what we are waiting for - adoption - is the same word from verse 15. The family is not in doubt. Only the timing is.
