Divine Feud: God's Vengeance

Because the Philistines acted revengefully, and took vengeance with malice of soul to destroy in never-ending enmity.
The charge against them is the same one levelled at the other nations in this chapter - gloating over Jerusalem's fall and moving in on it.
And the framework underneath these oracles is the one Deuteronomy 32 set up. As the sources put it, the nations hate the Most High and hate his people, and they and their gods want the land. The oracle is not international politics with a religious varnish. It is the older conflict surfacing.
