Discipleship - Follow the King

TEACHING POST · KINGDOM OF GOD

Ready-To-Post Teaching

Discipleship is fundamentally an active allegiance. It is described as "allegiance in motion," meaning that following Jesus is not a static belief, but a dynamic, lifelong commitment. This commitment necessitates a complete reordering of your entire life around the person of Jesus, who is both the crucified and risen King.

This call to follow Jesus, as articulated in Luke 9:23, involves two profound, daily actions: self-denial and the taking up of your cross. These are not merely suggestions but foundational aspects of what it means to be a disciple. This path models Jesus' own journey through suffering to ultimate glory, indicating that true discipleship embraces a costly allegiance rather than shying away from difficulty. It means recognizing that the crucified and risen King reorders your very identity, your deepest desires, your acts of obedience, and your public loyalty, transforming every facet of your existence.

Therefore, you are called to a discipleship that encompasses your whole life, not just private devotion. Just as the Messiah achieved glory through His suffering, so too do those who follow Him walk a path of faithfulness that passes directly through suffering, rather than bypassing it. This continuous movement after the King, embracing this challenging yet ultimately glorious path, shapes how you live out your faith each day.

What the Scripture Says
