Delay Is Not Denial

There was a saying going round Jerusalem: the days grow long, and every vision comes to nothing.
It is the oldest objection to prophecy. Nothing has happened yet, so nothing will. The sources describe the mood exactly - people saying nothing is going to happen.
God's response is not to argue with it but to abolish it. The delay was never the evidence they took it for.
