Dangers of Hubris

Ezekiel 32 is a roll-call of fallen powers, laid out in Sheol - beds made among the slain, the uncircumcised, those who go down to the pit.
It is tempting to read the Rephaim into this, given everything else in Ezekiel. Resist it. The one term that would clinch a giants-and-underworld connection, rephaim, is conspicuously absent from the passage.
Heiser makes a related point about verse 27: the Masoretic scribes pointed the consonants as nophelim, the fallen, not nephilim. Had they wanted to signal the giants, they would have. They did not.
