Salvation by Technology

The crucial difference between trust in human ingenuity and trust in God is highlighted by this truth: "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God" (Psalm 20:7). This verse plainly declares that our ultimate reliance should be on the Creator, not on the creations or capabilities of humanity, however impressive they may be.
The concern here is with the rising belief that humanity might, through technological advancement, achieve outcomes once promised only by religious faith, such as conquering death or granting eternal life. This perspective frames salvation as merely an engineering challenge, implying that human innovation could, in essence, replace the need for a divine redeemer. However, Scripture warns against placing such faith in human strength, stating, "Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength… Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD" (Jeremiah 17:5-7). While technology itself is a gift that can improve life, it cannot bear the weight of ultimate salvation. The "chariots and horses" of ancient times represent the peak technology of their era—powerful, advanced tools. Yet, even they were not to be trusted as the ultimate source of security or rescue.
Therefore, we are called to utilize the beneficial gifts of technology with gratitude, recognizing their limits. While medical advancements can extend our years on earth, they cannot overcome death permanently or offer eternal life. That promise belongs solely to Christ, for "there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). Your trust must remain firmly in the Lord, for He alone is capable of providing the eternal salvation that no human invention could ever hope to replicate. Do not allow the wonders of human achievement to eclipse your reliance on the divine power of God.
