The Dominion Mandate

"Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion … over every living thing" (Genesis 1:28) plainly means that humanity has been given a divine commission to exercise authority on Earth. This is not a license for unlimited self-direction, but a specific role of governance and oversight. This "dominion mandate" sets the terms for our interaction with all creation.
