Creator and Creation

The unchanging truth of Scripture declares that God Himself pronounced His creation "very good," as recorded in Genesis 1:31: "And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good." This foundational statement means that the material world, including our physical bodies, is not inherently evil, flawed, or a mistake. Instead, it is the intentional and perfect handiwork of the one true God.
This stands in stark contrast to the deceptive idea that the physical world is inferior or a prison from which we long to escape. Colossians 1:16 makes it clear that "by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible … all things were created through him and for him." This verse emphasizes that the physical realm is not the product of some lesser deity but is entirely the work of the Creator. Similarly, 1 Timothy 4:4 reinforces this truth, stating, "For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving." Evil entered the world not through the material aspect of creation but through the rebellion of created beings.
Understanding this divine perspective on creation profoundly shapes our faith. It means that salvation is not an escape from our physical existence or the world around us, but rather the redemption of the whole person—spirit, soul, and body—culminating in the resurrection. Your hope, therefore, is not to be freed *from* the physical, but to experience renewal and glorification *within* it, as the gospel promises not to rescue you from creation, but to renew creation itself around you.
