Every throne was made through him

Thrones, dominions, rulers, authorities. In Paul's world those words describe unseen powers, not parliaments.
He is naming the very beings the Colossians were being urged to revere - and saying they were all made through Christ and for him. Nothing on that list is a rival. Every throne that exists owes its existence to him.
