Called As A Human One

God addresses Ezekiel as son of man - ben adam - more than eighty times in this book.
It is not a title of honour. It literally means human one, or mortal one, and it works by contrast: Ezekiel is the creature in a scene full of divine beings, standing in front of the throne and the cherubim.
One clarification worth making, because the phrase turns up elsewhere. Daniel 7 has one like a son of man who receives dominion, and the weight of that passage does not rest on the title. As Heiser argues, it is the coming on the clouds that points toward a second deity figure - not the words son of man themselves.
