Build Up Your Faith

“But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,” (Jude 20 ESV). Jude exhorts us to actively participate in our spiritual growth. This isn't a passive waiting, but an intentional construction of our inner spiritual lives. Our faith is described as “most holy,” emphasizing its divine origin and pure nature, set apart from the defilements of the world. This building involves a continuous process of learning, believing, and living out the truths of God’s Word.
The early church faced numerous challenges, including false teachers who sought to undermine the foundational truths of the gospel. Jude's letter is a fervent call to contend for the faith, and this verse offers practical guidance for how believers can stand firm amidst such opposition. The instruction to pray “in the Holy Spirit” often refers to prayer that is Spirit-initiated, Spirit-directed, and Spirit-empowered, aligning our hearts and requests with God’s will.
