Instead, its patterns connect themes of a sacred, holy mountain environment, rebellion against divine authority, cunning deception, and the malevolent entity responsible for humanity's fall. Further scripture illuminates this: Ezekiel 28:13-17 ("You were in Eden, the garden of God... You were an anointed guardian cherub... Your heart was proud because of your beauty...") employs imagery of Eden, a mountain, and a guardian cherub to depict arrogant rebellion in a sacred setting. Revelation 12:9 ("The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world.") explicitly identifies this ancient serpent as the devil and Satan, confirming the spiritual identity of the deceiver.
