Yahweh's Uniqueness Among Elohim

Psalm 97:9 says Yahweh is most high over all the earth, and exalted far above all gods - elohim.
Heiser uses that verse as the sharpest argument against reading other elohim as non-existent. His question is hard to dodge: how is it coherent to say verses extolling Yahweh's superiority above all elohim are really telling us he is greater than beings that do not exist? It mocks God, he says, to praise him for being greater than nothing.
These are statements of incomparability, not denials of existence - the same form of speech Babylon and Nineveh use when they say there is none besides me.

Praise that compares God to nothing is not praise. Scripture compares him to real rivals and finds them not in his class.
